Sundance Institute Artist Programs and Sundance Film Festival - All You Need to Know

Sundance Film Festival Director of Programming Kim Yutani, Senior Programmer Heidi Zwicker, and Assistant Director of the Feature Film Program, International, Matthew Takata gather to answer the most asked questions about the work they do, and how filmmakers can best prepare themselves to submit to Sundance programs.

Los Angeles-based Kim Yutani started her programming career at Outfest Los Angeles, where she was the artistic director and the director of programming. Since 2009, she joined Sundance Institute and is now the director of programming. She was instrumental in creating Sundance Film Festival: Asia.

 

Heidi Zwicker is a Senior Programmer for the Sundance Film Festival, focusing on international and U.S. Narrative Feature Films, Midnight and Shorts. Heidi was a Programmer at Palm Springs International Shortfest from 2011-2014. Originally from the north shore of Boston, she has a degree in English from University of Massachusetts – Dartmouth and an M.A. in Critical Studies of Film and Television from UCLA.

 

Matthew Takata is the assistant director for the Feature Film Program’s international work at Sundance Institute. His focus is on international outreach and selection for the Institute’s Screenwriters and Directors Labs in Utah, FFP’s international labs and workshops, and the annual Sundance/NHK Award. He attended the University of California, Los Angeles, and is a native of the San Francisco Bay Area.
