The Paradox of Directing: Realizing a Singular Vision Through Diverse Collaboration

Alan Taylor is an award-winning director, screenwriter and producer. His film, Palookaville was selected for the Venice Film Festival. He also directed Thor: The Dark World and Terminator Genisys. He is currently developing projects for film and television, including Florentine, a feature film, based on a true story and set in the Italian renaissance.

 

Born in Taiwan and raised in Los Angeles, Jane Wu is the executive producer and director of the highly awarded series Blue Eye Samurai. She has boarded action sequences for features such as Mulan, Spider Man: Into the Spiderverse, The Avengers and Shang Chi. Her series credits include Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, Interview with a Vampire, and House of the Dragon.

 

Moderated by Alan Tuan: an award-winning director and producer who has accumulated his expertise in directing and producing in various fields such as VFX, animation, television programs, drama series, film, and advertising productions for more than 20 years in the United States, Taiwan and China. Recent roles included Head of Local Content for Disney+ Greater China, VP local production for Fox Network Group Asia and GM Modern Media Shanghai. With a background in Industrial Design from Rhode Island School of Design, Alan has also won or was nominated for many directorial awards from the Berlin Film Festival, Golden Horse Awards, Hong Kong Film Awards, ACM SIGGRAPH, among others.
